CERAMICS

HEATHER ARMSTRONG

Following her retirement as a doctor, Heather studied Art & Design and became hooked on smoke-fired ceramics. Her inspiration is the natural world and hand-building with clay lets her capture just a little of that and bring it close. Her pieces are incredibly tactile. See more

EMMA BUTLER-COLE AIKEN

Emma is a self-employed stained glass artist based in the Scottish Borders.
She has exhibited at RHS Chelsea Flower Show, Perth Museum and Art Gallery and her work can also be seen at the Flat Cat Gallery in Lauder. Emma has created many commissioned works throughout the UK for churches, hospitals and private clients.

LUKE BACHELOR

Luke has his studio at the nearby The Hirsel Centre For Arts and Crafts. His workshop is open to the public but, as he frequently works to commission off-site, his hours vary. If you are visiting the Hirsel specifically to see him you should make an appointment.

After 25 years working as a master restoration gilder, Nancy is exploring the creative effects of light bouncing off burnished 23ct gold leaf layered over a textured gesso surface. She creates the exquisite sparkling wall panels.

Fee Dickson-Reid

Fee creates expressive, atmospheric large-scale seascapes filled with a sense of calm and peace. Her paintings are about the solace of the sea and the light filled skies above the local beaches.  They make you feel like you are walking on the beach with her! Fee's studio is in North Berwick and she welcomes potential customers by appointment.

FINE FURNITURE

ROB ELLIOT

Rob creates gorgeously tactile pieces of furniture from Elm trees. He allows the grain and the ‘character’ of the wood to dictate its transformation into furniture that is rare and beautiful as well as being functional.

JIMMY FLEMING

A graduate of Edinburgh College of Art, Jimmy works in both watercolours and oils to express his reactions to the Borders landscapes. We love his landscape paintings of vast skies in muted moody palettes.

LINDA FOSTER

Originally from North Yorkshire but now based in the Borders Linda's inspiration comes from the landscape around her. Her watercolours evoke wide sweeps of space, moorland and sea as well as the detail of drystone walls, the swelling sea, rock formations and lichens.

A lifelong painter, Bella's passion for colour included 20 years as a tutor of colour and drawing at the Royal College of Art in London. She now devotes her time to painting her delightfully expressive studies. Many of them have a story to tell, which you can read here.
